Braselton is a town in Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson Counties in the U.S. state of Georgia, about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 7,511[3].
The Gwinnett and Barrow county portions of Braselton are part of the Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Marietta, GA-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, and the Hall County portion is part of both the Atlanta and Gainesville, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The remaining Jackson County portion of Braselton is not part of any Core Based Statistical Area. Braselton is the largest city in Jackson County by population.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 12.41 square miles (32.1 km2). All of it is land and none is covered by water. Braselton has seen its growth from 7.20 to 12.41 square miles from annexations into surrounding cities and areas.
Braselton borders Gainesville (Candler), Flowery Branch, Chestnut Mountain, and Hoschton and is located in Hall and Jackson Counties.
Braselton is home to Chateau Elan Winery and Resort which is the largest winery in Georgia.
Braselton is the largest place in Jackson County and the second largest in Barrow County by population.
The town is home to Road Atlanta, which is used for a variety of events including all kinds of local and international car and motorcycle races, driving schools, and testing for motorsports teams.
In 2008, North Georgia Health System built the River Place Braselton. The campus is home to Medical Plaza 1, home to an imaging center, rehabilitation center, imaging center, a pharmacy and many more. In 2011, it was announced that work would begin on Medical Plaza 2. It will include over 160,000 sq. ft. of medical space and it will be three floors.[5]
Also found here is many distribution centers for major companies and warehouses which serve as the southeastern distribution for the United States.
Mayfield Dairy has a plant in Braselton which serves as the milk center for the company. They will provide tours of the plant and also sells Mayfield icecream outside.
Braselton was ranked #1 for Recession-Resistant Growth in the Nation by the Gadberry group in 2009. [6]
Braselton was ranked #11 on America's Fastest-Growing Cities 2010 by Bloomberg Businessweek and the Fastest-Growing city in Georgia.[7]
Braselton was named after the Braselton family that has lived in the area for some time. The town was bought from the Braselton Families by a partnership between the Ameritech Pension fund and actress Kim Basinger in 1989 for $20 million. The Basinger-Braselton partnership hoped to establish Braselton as a tourist attraction with movie studios and a film festival. Basinger eventually sold her minor portion to the Ameritech Fund when she met financial difficulties. Much of the town's property is under the ownership of developer Wayne Mason. It is the home of Chateau Elan Winery.
Braselton is the headquarters of the American Le Mans Series, American Junior Golf Association, Elan Motorsport Technologies, IMSA, Denis Griffiths and Associates, Inc (Golf Course Architects), Macedonia World Baptist Missions, Hamilton State Bank, the Panoz Motor Sports Group, Skip Barber Racing School, BBS of America, the Road Atlanta race track, Year One, LightsOnline.com and Savoy House/ Progressive Lighting. Also found are the newly arrived major distribution warehouses for Petco Animal Supplies, Safelite AutoGlass, Sears Appliance Division, Year One, Tractor Supply, Haverty's Furniture and Home Depot Distribution Center.
Braselton boasts of two Publix super markets within the town's limits. In 2010, adjacent to the Kroger, the third Publix was opened on Spout Springs Road, which has small shops around it being Pizza Hut, AT&T Store, Chase, Wells Fargo, and many more shops coming soon such as Suntrust.
In 2010, It was announced that a 216 acre retail complex is to be built across from Chateau Elan and behind the Publix anchored shopping center on H.W. 211. No tenents have been announced, yet it is said to include over 1.1 million sq. ft. of building area with a hotel, home improvement store, retail space, and a movie theater. A similar project built by the same company in the area is Stonebridge Village in neighboring Flowery Branch.[8]
In 1950 Braselton had a population of 165. Town was bought out by Kim Basinger in 1989 for $20 millon.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! proclaims Braselton as the longest running claim of a mayor and most of the council with the same last name that has lasted from 1916-2002. It has not been broken since.

As of the census[1] of 2010, there were 7,511 people and 2,833 households. The population density was 605.0 people per square mile (1,210.0/km²). There were 2,833 housing units at an average density of 605.0 per square mile (1,210.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 82.9% White, 8.8% African American, 3.9% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 1.0% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.2% of the population.
There were 2,833 households out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.6 were married couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.60 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the town the population was spread out with 30.2% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 31.3% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $65,521 and the median income for a family was $64,667. The median value for a housing unit was $267,100. Males had a median income of $46,477 versus $27,292 for females. The per capita income for the town was $35,921. About 4.1% of families and 3.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.9% of those under age 18 and 12.6% of those age 65 or over.
